Handcrafted in a specialist Japanese workshop established in 1983, each Master Series bow draws on decades of study of the traditional French style, inspired by historic bows from the great ateliers of the 19th century. Made from the finest Pernambuco, seasoned for over 20 years, and fitted with a fully ‘925’ silver-mounted ebony frog, goat-skin grip, Mongolian stallion horsetail bow hair, and 935 silver and silk lapping, these bows offer exceptional poise, comfort, and tonal depth - delivering a responsive and commanding playing experience across the full range of the instrument.

Handmade in a specialist Japanese workshop established in 1983, each bow draws inspiration from the proportions of the great 19th-century French masters, while incorporating workshop refinements that make them naturally balanced and exceptionally easy to play.
Carefully selected stick materials - seasoned Pernambuco for violin bows, and Ipe for viola and cello - provide strength, resonance, and stability. A nickel silver-mounted ebony frog with a mother-of-pearl slide, a cowhide grip, and silver-plated copper winding ensures both durability and elegance. The result is a collection of bows that deliver smooth handling, tonal warmth, and outstanding performance for advancing musicians and professionals alike.

J. Thibouville-Lamy ‘Master Archetier’ bows honour the expertise of the Mirecourt bow-makers of the 19th and 20th centuries with each bow blank selected from a coveted stock of the finest 20 year seasoned Pernambuco.
Each blank is first tested for resonance and elasticity using a Lucchi Meter, with only blanks achieving a rating above 5300 making the necessary grade. This grading process ensures that only the very finest sticks are selected for the very finest bows.
Bow frogs are fully mounted and cut from fine Burmese Ebony and hand-finished with ‘925’ sterling silver fittings; the grips are made of the softest leather and wound with ‘925’ Silver wire; and the bow hair is unbleached, Mongolian horsetail, prized for its thickness and strength.
Each J.Thibouville-Lamy bow is traditionally hand-stamped with an original, antique Mirecourt stamp used by generations of fine bow-makers.

Each of the premium J.T.Lamy bows for Violin, Viola or Cello honour the craft and expertise of the Mirecourt master bow-maker Dominique Peccatte.
J.T.Lamy bow blanks are crafted from the finest Pernambuco tonewood seasoned for over 5 years. Bow frogs are fully ‘925’ silver mounted and cut from fine Burmese Ebony. The grips are made from high quality leather and wound with ‘925’ Silver wire,
and the bow hair is Mongolian horsetail, prized for its thickness and strength.
